Print and Online

My work has appeared in print and online publications,  including the Boston Globe, Boston.com, Boston Business Journal, Providence Business News and Banker & Tradesman.

This story ran in the online and print edition of the Boston Sunday Globe’s Travel Section on Nov. 11, 2018. I created a video of the harrowing journey up the mountain to the controversial marble quarries as well as a multimedia version of the story which I posted on my personal blog because the Globe’s paywall sometimes limits non-subscribers from reading the article.

This story ran on page 1 of the Boston Globe on Friday, March 31, 2017. By reviewing city records and corporate filings I was able to confirm that the Las Vegas developer was buying up residential, commercial, and industrial properties to demolish a three-block section of a run-down neighborhood across the street from where he was building the Wynn Boston Harbor casino. Malden Auto Body in Everett

This story ran in the online and print edition of the Boston Sunday Globe on Nov. 29, 2015. I created a video to go with it where bike commuters tell their horror stories. I’m also linking to it here from my personal blog because the Globe’s paywall sometimes limits non-subscribers from reading the article.

This story ran in the Boston Sunday Globe on May 18, 2014.  A Globe editor asked me to turn my documentary, “Down the Lynde, A Neighborhood on the Verge of an Industrial Breakdown,” into a print article and this was the result. The story is about an old industrial neighborhood that is facing drastic change under an urban renewal plan and a proposal to build a billion dollar casino on a contaminated former chemical company site.

This story ran as the centerpiece of the Business section in the Feb. 17, 2015 edition of the Boston Globe. I’m also linking to it here from my personal blog because the Globe’s paywall sometimes limits non-subscribers from reading it.

This story ran on the cover of the Boston Globe’s Arts section on June 22, 2013.  It was the 125th anniversary of the unsolved murders and some believe British painter Walter Richard Sickert (right) was the Ripper. I’m also linking to it here from my personal blog because the Globe’s paywall sometimes limits non-subscribers from reading it.

This story ran on the cover of the Globe North section of the Boston Sunday Globe on Feb. 22, 2015. It looked at the role Malden’s burgeoning Asian population is playing in the revitalization of Malden Square, as more Asian entrepreneurs are filling up empty storefronts.  I’m also linking to it here from my food blog because the Globe’s paywall sometimes limits non-subscribers from reading it.

This story ran in the Food Section of the April 3, 2013 edition of the Boston Globe. I’m linking to it here from my food blog because the Globe’s paywall sometimes limits non-subscribers from reading it.

I started my career in local, community journalism and worked in it for more than 10 years at various newspapers in the Greater Boston area.

The Malden Observer, under my direction as managing editor, was the first newspaper to publish a series of news articles that revealed the owners of a local daycare center who were convicted of child molestation may be innocent. This editorial ran in a special edition that examined this emotionally painful controversy. —Malden Observer editorial, pdf file from the Feb. 16, 1995 issue.
