Rovinj is a laid-back, romantic coastal city in northern Croatia. It features winding cobblestone alleys, vibrant local art scenes, and fresh seafood. The ferry ride from Venice to Rovinj is less than 3 hours.A short tunnel running between the old town and the seaside. The architecture in Rovinj is Venetian as it used to be part of Venice from 1283 to the fall of the Venetian Empire in 1797.One of the best places to watch the sunset is at the Valentino Bar where people sit on rocks by the shoreline.Waiters balance themselves and their trays of drinks, literally on the rocks.Even families come to this unusual outdoor bar.The views of the sunset from here are spectacular.Miro, our Airbnb host, gave us a private boat ride out to a pirate bar.Although it was beautiful arriving to Rovinj by ferry from Venice, the views from his boat did not disappoint. Born in 1959, Miro was drafted to fight in the Croatian War of Independence and lost a finger. To get to the pirate bar we had to dock our boat and then climb up a large hill. The bartender was waiting for us at the top of the hill.Miro gives a thumbs up at the end of a successful cruise. He is, without a doubt, the best host. Our apartment in Rovinj. The view from our bedroom in Rovinj. We ate at this romantic restaurant, which served Italian food.We picked up a rental car in Rovinj and drove south, stopping along the way to take in the view.
