“Paloma, Angel of the Sea”

Documentary
Short, 2025
(16 minutes)

I created this short documentary about a female surfing legend who routinely rescues swimmers from deadly riptides on a dangerous beach in Puerto Rico.

It won “Best International Film” at the Isabela International Film Festival in Puerto Rico and was also screened at film festivals in New York City, San Francisco and New Hampshire.

Paloma Quintana’s story touched hearts and inspired many. She rescued hundreds of people over the years while trying to get the government to hire lifeguards and put in other safety precautions.

A trailblazer and visionary, she founded the International Association of Female Surfers in Puerto Rico in 2004 because she recognized that women felt intimidated by what was then considered a man’s sport.

(Watch the trailer above. And sign up on the “Paloma, Angel of the Sea” website to get my email newsletter about upcoming screenings of the full documentary. You can read the latest newsletter about our trip to San Francisco for the amazing International Ocean Film Festival.)

Fishing Partnership: Fundraising
and Training Videos

I love making films that do some good in the world and that’s why I enjoy and take pride in the movies I create for Fishing Partnership.

I’ve created many videos for this worthwhile non-profit organization that supports the healthcare and financial needs of small independent fishermen. In 2024 I created the “Fishing Partnership/Grant Video” to help the organization apply for a grant, as well as several training videos, including “How to Make a Mayday Call” and “Firefighting Drills,” to help keep fishermen safe as they work in one of the most dangerous occupations.

San Francisco Photo Gallery

(April, 2026)

While out in San Francisco for the International Ocean Film Festival I took some photos and created this gallery (click on image to view gallery).

The Fort Point National Historic Site sits beneath the bridge and provides a unique perspective. Apparently, Alfred Hitchcock thought so too as he filmed an important scene for “Vertigo” there where Kim Novack throws herself into the water and Jimmy Stewart rescues her.

I hope you find some of these photos just as dramatic. 🙂

Maine Island Sunrise Photo Gallery

(May, 2026)

While in Maine, I took a break from video work to get these shots and create this photo gallery (click on image to view gallery).

There’s something special about the back shore of Peaks Island, a small island off the coast of Portland, Maine.

There, and at that time of day, the world is my oyster.
