About Mark
I am a multimedia journalist who specializes in short-form documentary-style videos. I tell stories using text, photos, videos, and various online tools, and most recently created the 2025 short documentary, “Paloma, Angel of the Sea,” which was screened at film festivals in New York City, Puerto Rico, San Francisco, and New Hampshire.
I was a newspaper reporter and managing editor for more than a dozen years before making the leap online in 1995 to the Interchange Online News Service, an experimental division of AT&T.

There, I worked with a team of journalists learning and shaping the tenets of online news before most people heard about the World Wide Web. We also created “Lead Story,” a comprehensive look at the top news story of the day that is sometimes referred to as the first group blog. It was ranked as one of the top eight websites to visit by U.S. News & World Reports.
After that I worked at several cutting-edge start-up companies and led a team to build one of the first healthcare websites. I later worked as a reporter at the Boston Business Journal before becoming news editor of Boston.com at the Boston Globe where I directed a staff of producers to cover some of the biggest news stories in New England and the nation.

In 2014, after earning a masters degree in digital media from Northeastern University, I started Reel Partners Media where I create short-form, documentary-style, videos for businesses and non-profits.
While in school, I created two weekly video series for the Boston Globe: Dorm Room Chef featured Boston chefs preparing food on camera that students could make in their dorm room and Drink of the Week featured Boston bartenders preparing specialty cocktails.
During this time I also created my first documentary, “Down the Lynde,” about Las Vegas mogul Steve Wynn’s plans to open a casino and the impact it could have on people living in an industrial neighborhood next to Boston.
Around the same time I began a part-time affiliation with Emerson College where I teach multimedia journalism.
